Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush: Shades, Application and Formulas

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Blush: Shades, How to Use, Price

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Blush in Pakistan: Shades & How to Use

Rare Beauty's Soft Pinch Liquid Blush became famous for one reason: a tiny amount gives a lot of colour that looks like skin, not makeup. It also became famous for the opposite reason, people using far too much and ending up with clown cheeks. Here is how to get it right.

Rule one: one dot per cheek

The formula is highly pigmented. For a natural flush, put one small dot on the back of your hand or straight onto the cheek, then tap it out with your fingertips or a damp sponge. Add a second dot only if you want more. Starting with three pumps is the most common mistake we hear about.

Blend quickly. The liquid starts to set within a minute, and once it sets it moves less, which is good for wear but not for blending late.

Where to put it for your face shape

  • Lifted look: on the upper cheekbones, blended up towards the temples.
  • Soft, youthful flush: on the apples of the cheeks.
  • Sun-kissed: a light sweep across the cheeks and over the bridge of the nose.

Choosing a shade for South Asian skin tones

Most of our customers have light to deep wheatish and brown skin with warm or neutral undertones. A few practical rules:

  • Light to medium skin: nude pinks, soft mauves and peachy pinks look the most natural. Hope, a nude mauve, is the shade most people start with, and it is very forgiving. Bliss is another soft, everyday option.
  • Medium to deep skin: do not be afraid of brighter shades, because they sheer out to a natural flush with one dot. Grateful, the bright pink that went viral, looks beautiful on deeper skin when tapped out.
  • Warm undertones: peach, coral and warm berry shades.
  • Cool or neutral undertones: cool pinks such as Happy and mauves.

Each shade page on our site has swatches, so compare them in daylight before choosing. Shades like Virtue suit people who want a deeper, bolder cheek.

Dewy, matte, powder or cream?

FormulaBest for
Soft Pinch Liquid Blush (dewy)Normal to dry skin, a fresh glowy look
Soft Pinch Matte Liquid BlushOily skin, humid weather, long wear
Soft Pinch Luminous Powder BlushVery oily skin, setting liquid blush, quick touch-ups
Melting Cream BlushDry skin, a soft balmy finish

In a Karachi summer or at a long wedding, oily skin usually does best with the matte liquid, or with the dewy liquid set by a light layer of powder blush in a similar shade.

Making blush last in Pakistan's heat

  1. Prep with a primer on oily areas. The Rare Beauty Pore Primer or SHEGLAM Pore No More Primer reduces slip.
  2. Apply liquid blush before powder, over foundation or skin tint.
  3. Lock it in with a touch of powder blush or translucent powder on top.
  4. Do not rub when you blot sweat. Press a tissue instead.

Rare Beauty or Charlotte Tilbury?

If you like a cheek and highlight in one, the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Blush & Glow products give a more lit-from-within, glamorous finish. Rare Beauty Soft Pinch is better for a natural, skin-like flush that you can build. Many people own one of each: Rare Beauty for daytime, Charlotte Tilbury for events. Our blush trend guide covers the looks.

Original vs fake Rare Beauty

Rare Beauty blush is one of the most faked makeup products in Pakistan. Fakes are often thicker, patchier, smell of paint or perfume, and do not blend into the skin. Check the packaging and batch code. Our guide to spotting fake products explains how. We sell only original Rare Beauty, with COD across Pakistan. See all shades on our Rare Beauty page.
